Why did the file copy for an amended return not show the proper amount of partial over payment applied to following year?
Client needed to amend MA 2023 return. I copied my client's file and renamed the original. Then I amended only the MA return and did not amend CA or Federal. When I transferred to 2024 the CA payment carryover showed nothing. Client got a check from CA in 2025 for the carryover that was not on the 2024 return. Why did this happen?
