Why are estimated tax coupons (1040-ES) printing DO NOT FILE

The 1040-ES tax coupons say DO NOT FILE-FORM NOT FINAL!!

Does anyone else have this issue??

If you notice, they have the wrong mailing address on them, the yellow bar at the top of the form says they'll be final on 2/18

Unless the taxpayer qualifies for a hardship provision they're not "supposed" to be mailed in with a check. We know the IRS will still accept but why not save yourself the hassle and get your clients to use Direct Pay on the IRS website?

this is from the IRS website dated in November last year

Has mailing instructions for check or money orders, nothing about hardships.

I'm more than tired of printing vouchers and making envelopes ... I've edited my client instruction letter to something like...... Make IRS payment no later than 4/15/2026 using their secure https://www.irs.gov/payments ... something similar for ES payments and states... If they want voucher(s) they can ask for them...

I'm finding that many octogenarians are capable of handling some of the technology.

If at first you don’t succeed…..find a workaround
