What do we put in the SSN field box if we are also submitting a W-7?

I am setting up the W-7 application, I know we have to paper file it and send it out to the ITIN processing center, does it matter if I leave the SSN field blank on the return? If so, what should I input? No SSN and applying for ITIN for 1st time

    heads up, you can't print if there is no SSN/ITIN/TRN.. so basically you can't do W-7 applications since you need to paper file it and they don't let you print.
