Waiting on Extension Acceptance so I can File the final 1040. Gripe

Last Return before end of the day/on time season.

So I filed an Extension and now can't file the 1040 until the extension is accepted/rejected by IRS as I didn't expect the Form 8879 by end of day.

They were being accepted very quickly earlier today but now things seem to be Stuck in cyber land.

It's like watching a pot of water to boil.

@JRC I wouldn't worry about it. We have 3 days after receipt of that to e-file.

I think you can uncheck the extension box and then you can efile the actual return. it used to work like that at least

I had a couple of extensions to take care of late in the day. They had some significant balance dues and I had a heck of a time getting them to process. I had some kind of screwy message that I needed to finish the extension before I could convert the extension for e-filing. Finally unchecked the boxes for the 1040 e-filing to get it to fly. Not the adventure I was looking for today.
