treatment of Schedule C no longer active

Not active in 2025 and no additional activity expected in the future.  All assets have been fully depreciated.

Can they just be removed?  from depreciation worksheets?

Per what I found on IRS website:  f your sole proprietorship business has no profit or loss during the full year, it's not necessary to file a Schedule C (Form 1040), Profit or Loss from Business (Sole Proprietorship) for that year.

As Linduca said no need to file schedule C if not active, but I would retain the worksheets in case your client decides to activate his/her business. I assume the assets were converted to personal use, and not sold.

I think Linduca’s reply was a case of “note to self”. 😀

But yeah, just delete the schedule C but keep a copy of the assets in the event that they are ever sold.  But then again, you don’t say if the assets consist of a fleet of semi trucks and trailers, or a computer, desk and stapler.  If they consist of a computer, desk and stapler, they may end up in garage sale selling for a buck 50, so keeping the asset list for future reference might not be a huge deal.

Good morning IronMan - I enjoy reading your posts.  Are you  available to take on a new job?

@guycherwonuk  - I’m glad you enjoy my posts.  I have to admit that I much rather see those kinds of posts here instead of seeing that I am supposed to report to the principal’s office.  I’m up to my eyeballs in work that I already have so I am definitely not searching for more.  If you are looking for some help, you might want to try starting a fresh post to see if someone can give you a hand.
