"Superseded" tax return

All-

After filing a clients return, I was informed he bought an EV vehicle last year, and therefore we have a credit available. Normally, I would file an amended return, however, after some reading I think I can file a superseded return.

Is this accurate? Any issues electronically filing a Superseded return I should be aware of?

Thanks for any input.

For individuals, there is technically not a superseded return notation. Filing an amended return by April 15 will be treated as a superseding return.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

I noticed there is a "File federal superseded return electronically" checkbox on the info worksheet however it requires adding a 1040 X form.  Thank you!

Its the same as amending, its just considered superseded when its amended prior to the due date....Id still wait for the original to complete processing before sending anything else in, just in case its hung up in processing somewhere (ID verification, fed withholding not matching, etc)
