State of Michigan ProSeries Automatically Exempting both widows and non-widows

We have multiple clients with inherited pensions or IRAS, the system for State of Michigan is automatically exempting everyone, regardless of whether the deceased spouse information is filled out, or whether that even applies to that client.

Because I was unaware that this information needed to be filled out, as this is my first year having this issue, where my clients are receiving adjustment letters. I am getting letters for my clients who are widows, and we are responding accordingly.

However, when filing, my system is automatically showing everyone as exempt, even if they do not qualify, so those that do not receive the exemption are also getting letters, but letters that are correct.

Is anyone else having this issue, is there a spot I am missing?

Is there a way to suggest to Intuit that there be a clear defined box in the system that asks whether this is spousal or non-spousal that way it can prompt the required fields of the deceased spouse.

Hi @Dhoward544 great to see you in the Community and thanks for posting about ProSeries automatically exempting both widows and non-widows. We recommend connecting with ProSeries Support for assistance with this. They would be able to remote in and take a look with you.
