S election not yet in IRS system

Best practice?  

New entity filed S election in December, no acknowledgement yet.  I see 2 options.

1- Paper file the 7004 for an S corp.

2- File an extension as a C corp. and then elect S status with the return.

Opinions please.

    What Susan says....AND send that paper extension using a tracking method.

    Plus, don't forget the new USPO policy of "we'll date stamp dropped off mail when we get around to it" - so you'll need to take it to the counter & it postmarked/stamped (if you are using the PO...).

      I'm now getting rejects for entity mismatch years after the S election. Makes no sense.
