Does anyone know if the rejection of Form 5695 when efiling is a Intuit issue or an IRS issue?  When I searched it the only feedback was from Turbo Tax users which leads me to belive it is an Intuit issue.

I am questioning all my returns at this point and review is taking so much longer. 😠

There is an issue with the IRS recognizing QMID codes containing "I" and "O".  There is a post about it somewhere here, but the search function still sucks.  I believe the suggested work around is to leave the QMID code blank on the 5695 and attach a pdf with the code and the basic information about the type of property including the manufacturer name and cost.

I came across that situation yesterday, researching the QMID code for a client who bought a heat pump made by Johnson Controls.  That company makes heat pumps under several brand names, including York, and they all have the same QMID.  Which has a capital letter O in it.  Which looks a lot like a zero 0. I can see where this can lead to errors. 0r should l say, l can see where Errors Might 0ccur.

@TaxBandit Have you tried to re-transmit with Form 5695, was the rejection resolved?

Have a client also with a heat pump credit that was denied by the IRS.  Then need more information.

The QMID code was present "I7Q6" and return was accepted by the IRS on 3/23/26.  Done some research but no firm answers to resolve other than sending them 5695 along with print out of code supplied by taxpayer from the supplier. Thoughts?

"Thoughts?"

Yup.  Codes using "I" and "O" caused issues at the IRS.  Just fax the 5695 as filed with the troubled code and they will finish processing the return.
