Client died.  Son is personal representative (no executor named).  How/where, specifically, do i input his info so it shows on the return, and he can sign for e-file, etc?

If there's a refund, the 1310 would ask for his information, if no refund, his name doesnt go anywhere that Im aware of.

So would I have him sign his name, then "personal representative" on 8879 to efile?

If there is a court appointment, "personal representative" in some states is just another (modern) way of saying "executor."  If the son is acting without a court appointment, IRS instructions ask that the person signing be identified as "personal representative."
