Is the program asking you to attach the federal return?  maybe I'm misunderstanding the question.

Pa state is offering earned tax credit to anyone who is eligible for earned income tax credit on Federal return but you have to submit a copy of your federal tax return

Yes, attach 1040, Sch EIC and 8812. WOTC is a great example of last minute retroactive  legislation (passed 11/25)  leaving the taxing authorities, software companies, and preparers to scramble for compliance and implementation.

Is there anyway to submit federal return through intuit or would I have to send it through the mail?

For efiling attach as pdf.

Are we sure that ProSeries won't attach it automatically?

The more I know the more I don’t know.

<<I called in to ProSeries and the representative told me that the software is scheduled to update on March 3rd to allow for the new PA WOTC credit. Is this not true?>>

1. I'd wait til the 3/3 update comes out to file...

2.  I'd ALSO attach the files as @Just-Lisa-Now- described.

3. I'd probably wait a couple weeks after the 3/3 update cause to see if anyone complains here... I hate being the first to try a new PS update....

.......one never knows.... do one????

Hello,

Am I missing something?  Where do we enter the Federal EIC amount on PA return?

I understand we need to attach the Federal return; however, it is my understanding that we need to enter the EIC amount somewhere to flow to the PA...?

Has anyone prepared a 2025 PA return that qualifies for WPTC?  What input (and where) needs to be included please?

Thank you,

~Paula

For the 2025 tax year, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue (DOR) is calculating the credit automatically. There is no specific line on the 2025 Form PA-40 for the WPTC.

You must attach the federal to the state, then ProSeries carries the EIC information to the state background data.

If the taxpayer qualifies for the federal EIC, they automatically qualify for the WPTC. The PA DOR will calculate the 10% amount based on the federal return data they receive and either add it to the refund or reduce the balance due.

In 2026, there will be a line for the credit.
