On pro series professional why does the incorrect form 8997 link and not 8996. 8997 is for individuals

Proseries Professional only links form 8997 instead of 8996. This has been a problem for years and a pdf is not accepted as an addon. Any help?

8997 is used for most taxpayers. from IRS top of form 8997.

Initial and Annual Statement of Qualified Opportunity Fund (QOF) Investments Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service Attach to Form 1040, 1040-SR, 1040-NR, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120-F, 1120-REIT, 1120-RIC, 1120-S, or 990-T.

8996 is for corps/partnerships and 8997 is for individuals, sounds like a programming glitch if only the 8897 is available in a 1120S.

@IntuitKatie can anyone look into this, Im not fluent in corporations or familiar with QOF’s so maybe Im missing something.

IRS Form 8996 is used by corporations and partnerships to self-certify and annually report as a Qualified Opportunity Fund (QOF) under the Opportunity Zone program.

@Just-Lisa-Now- A corporation or partnership uses Form 8996 to certify that it is organized to invest in QOZ property. In addition, a corporation or partnership files Form 8996 annually to report that the QOF meets the 90% investment standard of section 1400Z-2 or to figure the penalty if it fails to meet the investment standard. Form 8996 is not filed by QOZ businesses. The 8997 is used for any taxpayer investing in a QOZ including S-Corp. Poster is not saying what he needs to report.

It’s an Intuit software issue - the wrong form 8997 is linked to S Corps. Form 8996 does not populate as a viable form in ProSeries when using Form 1120S. I was wondering if anyone else has raised this issue or how they navigated it, but I got it done.
