NYS payment via EF Direct Debit

Help ! Does anyone know how I can CANCEL an EF request on my just-E-filed NYS client tax return? There was a miscommunication about their payment, with my thinking they wanted EF Direct Debit from the Bank Account on file, but then they called to say they didn't see the payment voucher they expected in their packet ... I had literally E-Filed it about 1 hour prior, today ...

Thanks very much for your reply! The NYS return was accepted yesterday, 3/28, with this duplicate payment scheduled for 4/1 - I will have the client call and try to cancel the payment ... appreciate your input.

Once the e-file is accepted you, the ERO can't cancel the payment. The taxpayer can login to (or create) an Online Services account and select "View and cancel scheduled payments", ideally at least 2 business days before the scheduled date. They can also call the NY Department of Taxation and Finance at 518-485-7884 or 518-457-5772. To login to, or create an Online Services Account go to:
