Question

NYC return shows with NYS taxpayer is not a NYC resident and no income in NYC

several of my NYS clients show a NYC return and billing when they have no NYC residence and no NYC income. It would appear all the appropriate boxes to indicate this are checked. Any ideas as to why a NYC return would appear and billing.

Sometimes...............  if you're in the NYS return and hit the ST icon, you can accidentally launch the NYC return.   Try 'remove this city/state'
