Probably should have asked this a while ago, but here goes:

On multistate returns, does ProSeries Pro automatically attach other state returns to the resident return (to verify taxes paid to other jurisdictions) when efiling?  Or am I required to attach to the resident return?

You need to attach a pdf of the other state returns to the resident state.

Ive had it prompt me to attach for certain states, but not all of them, I do what the software tells me to, if it doesnt insist that a copy be attached, I dont attach it, never had a letter requesting one that hadnt been attached.

It's an automatic prompt with Minnesota.  I don't do a lot of out of state client returns that require filing non-resident returns, but when I have I also needed to attach the non-resident returns.  So I only report on what I see.  It will be interesting next year if I pick up a couple of clients living in the new states of Greenland and Canada on what the requirements are.

I prepare Indiana, Michigan and Illinois.   I've never attached other state as PDF.    If the program prints the required attachments when printing filing copy, then it should be sent when e-filing.
