Question

Mistakenly Efiled a return, when it had a huge Section 179 Expense on it, when I had not checked out the options, resulting in a large refund. What can I do?

Thats wild that the when you reviewed the return with the client, this was missed.   Didnt they wonder why the refund was so high?

At any rate, your only option is to amend, but you have to wait for the return to complete processing first, which means wait for the refund, then pay back whatever the difference is with the amended return.

1040X isnt ready yet anyhow, I think its got another week or so.

No, you don't have to wait for the original return to process before filing what would be a superseding return before April 15.  It sounds like the client doesn't want to get a huge check, only to return it to IRS.  But it doesn't take IRS that long to process a return, so it might already be too late.

have client let you know when they receive the refund - tell them not to spend it (lol) as they will need to pay it back with the amended return
