Have a taxpayer that is a retire police officer.  Under #8  Column B, there is not X for Deceased Spouse, but later on the page under 14 Enter total private retirement/pension benefits, including private benefits received from a deceased spouse would died prior to 2025 it is added the value up.

This is leading to state corrections.

We are having problems with pension deductions. Many returns have had no problems until now. Hadn't considered until this morning that perhaps Proseries software is the issue.  The most common is when the widow is receiving the pension under Code 4, but we are seeing a variety of situations.  Have you found a solution?

Yes, i'm seeing the same.  If they are the surviving spouse you have to check that box on the state, put in all the deceased spouse info date of birth, date death, if the spouse was ever remarried. Did they file a joint return the year of the death.  Social security number.

Still having problems with the MI 4884. Am double clicking on line 7a for the Deceased spouse's info to enter on the worksheet-name, SS# Date of Birth, date of Death. Also, not remarried, filed jointly, retired bedfore 2013, not SSA exempt, not fire police correction then QuickZoom to Form 4884.  Part 2- Deceased Spouse Information. Nothing is brought foward from the above worksheet??  The State, in a statement dated March 16, 2026  stated that "The form (4884) MUST include: 1 1099R information 2. Deceased spouse's Social Security, 3. Deceased spouse's date of birth."

Am I missing something I haven't filled in?    Is it a software glitch?

Hi  Thank you for sharing about this. We'd recommend connecting with ProSeries Support as they have the tools to remote in and can take a closer look.
