MFS-Taxpayer filing as MFS. The taxpayer is not itemizing since the spouse is unable to itemize. (age 55).

The taxpayer has mortgage interest, property taxes, and charitable contributions amounting to $19,801 in itemized deductions, while the standard deduction is $15,700.

Although I have verified the MFS status, the system continues to provide the itemized deduction. Is there a specific section in the program that I can review to prevent the itemized deduction from being applied, aside from omitting the deductions?

Theres a checkbox down low on the Fed Info worksheet that will force the standard to be used.
