Integrating Gruntworx with ProSeries Professional

Hi,

Has anyone here used GruntWorx with ProSeries Professional?

I’m particularly interested in how well GruntWorx works for auto-populating data into ProSeries.

- How accurate is the data extraction and import?

- Does it meaningfully speed up 1040 preparation workflows?

- Any limitations or common issues to be aware of?

Would appreciate any feedback and advice.

Thanks in advance!

Bumping this to see if anyone has dealt with Gruntworx integration with ProSeries Professional. Any thoughts/feedbacks is appreciated 🙂

I don't have any experience with Gruntworks, so I can't give a direct comment.  But I'll mentions a few thoughts:

  • ProSeries already offers the ability to import many things, so I'm not sure how much more Gruntwox would do.
  • Whether you use Gruntworx or the native ProSeries imports, you STILL need to verify all information.  Is it really saving you much time to import it?
    • I "think" about things while I enter things.  I think about how my entry affects the tax return, and if anything can reduce the effect of the taxable income I have entered.  If the input was automated (such as through Gruntworx), I would need to institute a separate step into my process to 'think' about how it affects things.  Would the automated entry really save any time or effort?

I am certainly NOT trying to discourage any automated entry, but in my personal circumstances, it seems like it would take MORE time and/or MORE room for errors and/or LESS service to my clients by using automated entries.  But that is only my personal circumstances; your circumstances may be different than mine.

Hi TaxGuyBill,

Thanks for your feedback - I appreciate them. Our staff usually reviews the inputs / line totals on the 1040 after inputting the tax docs in. I think it's easier to just input the tax docs in for returns that don't have that many tax docs. But for larger returns, I'm thinking if there was an economies of scale to when it may be more efficient to have automated entries then review them rather than inputting entries in then reviewing them.

But this is just my thoughts. I would probably need to experience the automated entries myself in order to get a feel for it.
