Illinois spouse middle initial doesn't show on IL 1040 return

 A client asked me why his middle initial appeared on the signature forms for Illinois but the spouse's did not.  It's on the IL 1040 return but not the signature forms.

Holy cow - your clients actually look at things like that !    I have a hard time getting my clients to let me go over the numbers with them.  It's usually- "just tell me where to sign".

If nothing else, clients usually know if their name and address are correct on the return.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

    Simple answer - Illinois ran out of budget money.  They could only afford to program one middle initial.
