If a parent claims a child who just got married how does the child file

The child was in college and the parents want to claim her but how does she file? Thank you

Look on the information worksheet. There’s a check box for TP can be claimed as dependent and TP is claimed as a dependent 

If at first you don’t succeed…..find a workaround

If She was married in 2025 are her and her husband filing MFJ and are only filing to get back taxes withheld, and do not have a filling requirment, then your client may claim her if all other requirements met. If the newlyweds have a filling requirment, then your client cannot claim her

You have it backwards.

As Terry indicated, the daughter first needs to determine how SHE is going to file.  After that, you can determine IF the parent is allowed to claim the daughter as a dependent.
