I received the above error on a 2021 tax return. The EIN is correct. What to do next?

If you are absolutely positive that the EIN is correct after double, triple and quadruple checking, you can try submitting a second time and if it still bounces the only remaining option is to paper file.

Im just gonna throw this out here, its not correct, but it WILL allow EFiling, Im not saying Ive done it, and Im not saying I havent (wink wink)...but you can put ANY valid EIN on the worksheet to get it accepted.

They DO NOT cross match name to EIN for 1099's or W2's, it just has to be a valid EIN.

What company issued the 1099R?

It was the Nonappropriated Fund Employee Retirement Plan(DOD). I have tried and am waiting to see what happens. TY
