    You don't "need" to amend.

    See Frequently asked questions about the Employee Retention Credit | Internal Revenue Service Income Tax and ERC section Q&A

    As Susan said you dont amend the 1120 S just send in a revised Form 941-X, Form 943-X, Form 944-X, Form CT-1X witchever your client uses

    @Terry53029 That's not what I said/pointed to.

    The 941Xs were filed to get the ERC refund.

    You now claim the refund as income on the tax return for the year received, along with the associated interest income.

    In most cases, I wouldn't do it.

    The last I checked, the FAQ has never been published in the IRB.  It has no authority and directly contradicts the authoritative Notices that say to amend.

    Unless the 1040 was filed late or would result in the 25% understatement of gross income, the Statute of Limitations is closed for 2020.  The IRS can't do anything about it.
