I filed a single mother and should have used the n code as the child didn't live with her.  I used the L code and now the baby daddy can't claim him.  How do I fix this?

Amend, but it might be quicker for baby daddy to paper file his return.

You'll have to amend or supersede the return, I don't think that's available in the software yet.

If dad applies for an IPPIN he can file with the child and it will be accepted, rather than having to file by paper...but its going to be a long drawn out situation for both parties I'm afraid.

P.S.  If the child doesn't live with mom, it shouldn't have even be listed on the return unless dad gave her a signed 8332 releasing the child to her.
