How to report suspected error in Indiana state tax form?

I would like to know how to report what I believe to be an error that needs fixing within the Indiana state tax form. In the federal information worksheet, I added a dependent for a client who can not claim the child as a dependent for the sole purpose of allowing them to qualify for the child care expense deduction, form 2441. The federal info worksheet allows you to designate the dependent as a "Q" just to be able to receive the deduction on the federal return. When switching over to the State return, for Indiana, it gives an error in the SCH IN-DEP and lists the first name of the dependent as "UNTITLED". If I change the "Q" in the federal return, the name populates correctly in the state return and the error goes away. There is something going on with the state when it reads that "Q" and does not correctly handle it whether the name should populate or it should actually not count the dependent for the state return at all. Anyway, I think it is an error in the software and wanted make someone aware so it could get fixed.

I am having this same issue if I change any dependents in the federal form or remove a dependent that is no longer claimed and go to IN, it says UNTITLED and needs reviewed. I have to take out all of the dependents in federal and re-key everything to fix it. I also noticed today that when I mark a child as adopted that it is not flowing to the IN-DEP A at all and the deduction is not flowing to schedule 3. This is a huge error and needs fixed ASAP

Are you still having the same issue with the state of Indiana? It does not seem like they have fixed it.

I did find a work around, it is not the best solution but does solve it. Once the dependent is off the federal return, you have to delete/remove the state from the return and then create a new one. This resets the state and does not bring over the removed dependent from the federal.

to get child care credit, you must claim child as a dependent on federal and state. Why is your client not claiming the child as a dependent

They are being claimed as a dependent on the federal. You misread everything I wrote. I said I took off a dependent from federal and it screwed up IN. That dependent got married in 2025 and needed removed, but they still had 2 other dependents remaining. Removing that 1 dependent on the federal screen messed up the IN return and brought up the UNTITLED needs reviewed in the state then at that point and the federal needed completely redone in the dependent section for it to flow correctly. The other issue is that if a child is adopted and marked in the IN return as adopted for that credit it is not flowing correctly to the IN-DEP-A form nor Schedule 3. Indiana has some major bugs to fix with regards to dependents and the dependents that qualify for the additional adoption exemption.

I have found that when you make changes to some areas in federal after you have completed state, then you have to delete the state and do it over
