How to report suspected error in Indiana state tax form?
I would like to know how to report what I believe to be an error that needs fixing within the Indiana state tax form. In the federal information worksheet, I added a dependent for a client who can not claim the child as a dependent for the sole purpose of allowing them to qualify for the child care expense deduction, form 2441. The federal info worksheet allows you to designate the dependent as a "Q" just to be able to receive the deduction on the federal return. When switching over to the State return, for Indiana, it gives an error in the SCH IN-DEP and lists the first name of the dependent as "UNTITLED". If I change the "Q" in the federal return, the name populates correctly in the state return and the error goes away. There is something going on with the state when it reads that "Q" and does not correctly handle it whether the name should populate or it should actually not count the dependent for the state return at all. Anyway, I think it is an error in the software and wanted make someone aware so it could get fixed.
