How to address IRS Reject Code of Missing Form 1095A?

I am preparing a return for a taxpayer who is claiming his daughter as a dependent. The dependent child is listed on ex spouse’s Form 1095A. I have obtained the spouses Form 1095 A in order to clear the IRS reject code for missing Form 1095A and have entered the information from the form into the client’s return. How I am seeing that his return has increased due to the premium tax credits from Form 1095A.

Is there a solution to this issue? It seems like those credits pertain to the ex spouse and not the taxpayer.

if the other parent already took 100% allocation for the 1095A on their own return, you can allocate 0% to the  return that the child is being claimed on.  With 0% allocation, that should eliminate the payback.

Allocation is done near the bottom of the 1095A entry workheet.
