how do I do an amended return for 2024

1040X same as always.  The forms I believe are not ready to print unless they have been updated.

      Find the 1040X form and get it activated by clicking on the year you are amending and put in an explanation in the space provided towards the bottom of the 1040X worksheet.  Do the same for the state, if you have one.  Then you can start making your changes.  But before you do any of that, make sure you either have a paper or pdf copy of the original return.
