Question

How can I get the letters SCH to appear to the left of the amount on line one of the 1040? Not an attachment/note behind the amount, actual SCH to appear on line 1?

client works for CDC and states IRS will reject return if SCH is not shown to the left of the amount on line 1 of the 1040 even though they are not issued a W-2....

SCH is for taxable Scholarship income.  The only way I know for sure to get income to push through onto Line 1 with SCH next to it is by using the 1098T form and entering it in Box 5.   You'll probably have to make some "dummy" entries on the form for the school info to get rid of errors, but the end result should be what you want.

Didn't that move to Schedule 1 Line 8r for 2022?

Oh did it?  I know they made a bunch of changes for other income, maybe they took away that SCH on Line 1.  I know we used to have lots more options for adding things to the income lines that are just no longer available..

Yep, youre right, 2022, it sends it to Sch 1, as Other Income now.

@kellyspires I think your instructions are outdated.
