  • Prepare Form 8962 manually / externally, attach as PDF

    • Use the 1095-A data to manually compute Form 8962 (following IRS instructions)

    • Save that completed 8962 as a PDF

    • In ProSeries, go to the “Miscellaneous → Attachments / PDF attachments” for that client (or the “Other forms / supporting documents” section) and attach that 8962 PDF to the 1040-NR return

    • Then when you go to e-file, ProSeries should transmit the PDF as a “supplemental” attachment

  • Remove or zero out the credit / APTC entry in ProSeries

    • If possible, suppress the entry for the premium tax credit or APTC (if it shows up as a line in your Health Insurance section), so ProSeries does not demand a 8962

    • Note: This might mean you lose credit or have to repay the APTC, but that may be appropriate if, under nonresident rules, you cannot claim the credit anyway

  • File on paper (paper-file) and attach 8962

    • If e-filing remains blocked, you can go with a paper return

    • Print Form 1040-NR, include your manually completed Form 8962, attach Form 1095-A, and mail

    • This avoids the software limitation and rejection via e-file

  • Contact Intuit / ProSeries Support to request an enhancement / patch

    • Since multiple users have flagged this limitation, let ProSeries know you'd like the ability to generate 8962 under 1040-NR

    • They may provide a patch, update, or workaround in a future release

    • In the meantime, request confirmation from support that your manually attached 8962 will be accepted in your jurisdiction

I could be wrong because I don't file 1040NRs, but I have stuck in my mind that ProSeries does not allow a 8962 on a 1040NR.

If that is the case, you would need to manually prepare the 8962, override the numbers on the 1040NR to correspond with the results on the 8962, and file by paper.  Or look for another company's software that is set up for a 8962.
