Form 8936 - Clean Vehicle Credit

I have a client that purchased a used 2022 Tesla Model Y vehicle.

I e-filed tax return and it got rejected.

Error Detail: Schedule A (Form 8936) credit amount does not match the type of credit reported in E-file database.

Is there something I did wrong, or what does that mean? Anyone get this message before?

Thank you for that link. It does qualify. Even double checked the VIN. I'm at a loss.

when I look for that year model, I see this at the top of the table, did they buy it from a dealership or a private party?  I think it has to be from a dealership that participates in the EV credit with IRS and they give the buyer a special form for it.

Attention: Not every version of the models listed below will necessarily qualify. Please check with the dealer/seller to determine the eligibility of your specific vehicle.

Do you have a copy of the Clean Vehicle Seller Report that the dealer is required to give to your client and file with the IRS?

They brought you the Form 15400 from the dealership?

No 15400 = No credit
