Form 8825 and the new "Schedule A" (ProSeries 2025)

I've noticed the IRS has created a new form (Schedule A) to be used in conjunction with Form 8825 for additional expenses that aren't listed directly on Form 8825.  However, there are still various expenses that might not fit into any specific category listed on either Form 8825 or Schedule A.

In previous years, we've had the ability to create custom expense lines that would roll up into the "Other Expenses" category and be shown on the return via an explanatory statement.  This doesn't appear to be programmed into ProSeries presently (01/07/26).  Schedule A does indeed have an "Other" category, but no ability to customize other than by double clicking to create a Supporting Statement.  In addition, there is no QuickZoom feature from the 8825 itself to get directly to the Schedule A (only an embedded Smart Worksheet that doesn't have the "Other" option).

Is this being looked at by ProSeries?  We need the ability to create custom lines that roll into the "Other" category - preferably without having to double click for a Supporting Statement.  Thanks.

Edit: Amortization Expense from intangibles are also not currently being reflected on the 8825.

Has the information for Amortization on form 8825 been fixed?  We installed the program 1/7/2026 and amortization is not feeding through to 8825.

It's even worse than what you've identified.  Schedule A is exclusively for the use of M-3 filers; partnerships and S corps that don't file M-3 do not use Schedule A, but rather list other expenses separately.  If you look at the ACTUAL draft 8825, you'll see the IRS provided additional lines used to report other expenses.  Unfortunately, the knuckleheads at ProSeries haven't yet figured that out, forcing us to use Schedule A even when it is clearly not applicable.  Hopefully, someone will get a clue soon, I've got two 1065's that are otherwise ready to file now.

Hi @cbarnes  Nice to see you in the Community and thanks for posting about the 8825. We brought this to development and the form is not yet finalized.  When the final form is available, you will be able to include the other expenses. If a deduction does not fit into any Line 17 Smart Worksheet category, then you would be able to enter the expense on the additional Smart Worksheet line - Line 30b - all other deductions.

The new lines added to the program *18,19,20 & 30A&B do not correspond with any lines on the actual form (unless perhaps Intuit has an advance copy of the as yet unrevised 8825) that may be intended to utililize those new lines.  At least 30A is now handling amortization (previously neglected by Intuit).  Here's hoping there are more revisions yet to come...both from IRS to their form and from Intuit to comply with the yet to be revised IRS form.

Although Intuit has not yet finalized the form 8825 for filing, it does seem to print in compliance with the latest IRS revision, lumping together all "other deductions" on line 17, despite entering those deductions in detail on the worksheet, so perhaps Intuit needs only to finalize the forms so we can get them filed.
