Form 4547 Trump Account - Auto fill the newborns info

Would Pro Series update the form to include an option that auto-copies the newborn's name, SSN, and Dob from the 1040 onto the Form 4547?

It will avoid typos and extra work.

you would think that would do that - or at least a button to check off that says copy from worksheet.

maybe in another update but I think maybe if there are multiple dependents it wouldn't know which to bring over (I know Birthdate)

It would be helpful to have a checkbox labeled "Copy from Worksheet." This would allow us to import all dependents or just those born in 2025 if there are multiple dependents. A similar feature exists on the 1065-A, which loads dependent information from the info sheet.

Hello! Thank you all for your suggestion regarding auto-populating newborn information on IRS Form 4547.

At this time, ProSeries does not support auto-fill of the child’s name, Social Security number, or date of birth from the 1040 into Form 4547. We’ve confirmed this with the product team.

Your feedback has been shared with Development for consideration in a future update, and we appreciate you taking the time to provide this input.

Not that any of my clients are of child-bearing age, but it looks to me as if only one 4547 can be added to a return, using ProSeries.  Clients with twins (actual, or Irish) in 2025 will have to mail one in.  The form, not the baby.  But are preparers going to be charging for this?

Hopefully, Intuit adds a check box on the Info Worksheet so the information would auto transfer to Form 4547 for each eligible child selected. There is no reason the software shouldn't be able to handle it.

We expect to complete Form 4547 for any clients with children under age 18 even if they don't expect to contribute immediately. There is no downside.

Why? "In December 2025, billionaires Michael and Susan Dell pledged $6.25 billion to seed "Trump Accounts" for approximately 25 million American children."

And you are not charging a fee for doing this, right?

The Dell promise ($250 - wow!) isn't the best reason to open the account.  The Treasury is adding $1,000 to each account -- the only question is whether to do it in July, or wait till the market drops later in the year, since none of it goes into an insured investment.  But the parents still have to find a financial institution that will hold the account.  And that service will likely be free.  I have enough work to do, I'm not going to donate my time when someone else could be doing it better anyway.

But I don't know if the form 4547 is in its final form yet.  It appears to just print out in black and white.  Where is the gold supposed to be showing up on the form?

It doesn't even fill in firm info, PTIN, etc?  Is that true for everyone else?

True! Nothing is filled out. It should be automatic.

I think that it is ridiculous that its over a month since e-filing opened, and Proseries still has not added a checkbox to auto populate all the names from the info worksheet.

It is a pain to have to hit copy and paste for every first name, last name, social, and birthdate from the info worksheet, especially if a client has a few children on their return.

I don't think it's asking too much for proseries to do something new that wasn't on last year's return. Sometimes Proseries has issues with anything new that wasn't on last year.

Make a button to copy all names from info worksheet, and when it copies any dependent that is over 18, it will make a error by the birthday, and you will know do delete that dependant.

Perhaps we need to congratulate Proseries that at least they copy the email address from the info worksheet and the parent's name!!!!!!!!!

But c'mon Proseries, what are we paying for!  There is a reason one of our peer accounting firms told me that they left you this year. It's for things like this.

When will you fix this?

Moshe, amen!

"Proseries, what are we paying for!"

In Dec and Jan, Intuit has enough staff to call my office 2-3 a week begging me to renew ASAP. However, when we encounter issues like this one, they are nowhere to be found.

And why didn't they send out alerts once they discovered that W-2Gs were not being properly handled?

I enjoy filling out their surveys asking me if would recommend them to colleagues.  They deserve the 2 out of 10 ratings I've given.

Why are we still waiting for the autofill to be fixed???
