You may want to ask to see the final check stub for the year, to make sure the amount showing on the W2 is the amount that can be deducted, not the entire amount paid for overtime that needs to be reduced to just the half time of time and a half.

    please ask for the final paystub. We are seeing some weird amounts and coding in box 14. At least the one that made absolutely no sense at all was over the income limit for the deduction and we didn't need to go down that rabbit hole.
