I need to e-file a 2021 and 2022 990-EZ for a client to become current with filings. ProSeries will not e-file them saying to file a paper return, however, IRS will not accept a paper return due to the nonprofits e-file requirement. Is there a work around for this?

File them on paper.  The IRS knows e-filing is closed since they are the ones that make the rules.

The IRS website states that for tax years ending on or after July 31, 2021, all 990‑EZ returns must be filed electronically and that paper filings will be rejected. Since this isn’t just the general e‑file rule, but a specific mandate for certain nonprofits, I'd prefer not wasting days on mailing paper returns that the IRS won’t accept.

They'll accept them since they cannot be efiled.

You're filing a bunch at once and indicating Filed Under whatever the Rev Proc is for reinstatement, right?

The more I know the more I don’t know.
