Question

e-filed a return that has been accepted by the IRS but state still just says "received by Intuit"

I e-filed a return that was quickly received by Intuit, sent to the IRS and accepted.  However, state (Ohio) and school district still just give a status of "received by Intuit".  It has never even moved to sent to the state.  What would be the issue?

You transmitted the return 5 minutes ago, 5 days ago, 5 weeks ago?  Details tend to help.

2 days ago.  99.9% move from "received by Intuit" to "sent to state" in about 15 minutes, so it seems like something is definitely off.

Have you tried highlighting the client and then clicked on e-file and update acknowledgements to see if that does anything for you?

The guy in OH who hits the accept button took a sick day… he’ll be back tomorrow

I have had the same problem but with only ONE client!   Also OHIO!   All other Ohio and other state returns went through before and after the "stuck" one.   Have you had any luck besides snide comments?

There was nothing special on their return, pretty basic so I cannot think of a reason why.

and no it's not the button guy! 😉  although that was funny

I’m in NJ and have occasionally had IRS and State returns “stuck” for no apparent reason… Last year I had one stuck for weeks… I ended up calling the state… they didn’t explain why, but I magically received an acknowledgment the next day.

Thank you!   I've been on hold for ProSeries for over 30 minutes.

You called the state tax department and they were willing to assist you?   Usually Ohio is only willing to talk about their website no other software.

Does your Ohio return have an underpayment penalty on the IT/SD 2210?

All of mine that are stuck in "received by intuit" have that form in the return.

i think you found the culprit…. Check forms availability… Ohio 2210 is not supported for efile. You may have to paper file (or eliminate the form and let OH DOR assess the penalty??)

I've had two returns for Ohio School District with a penatly (OH 2210) and both are on hold through Intuit. The response I received is that the OH IT 2210 will be updated through ProSeries on 03/19/2026. At that time you will need to update your software, then check your Ohio return and School District for any errors then proceed to EFILE. That's the response I received from ProSeries  via my error log.
