Client received a 1099-Misc for a settlement with "3. Other income: $601." This stems from a class action suit alleging the defendant used persons' biometric data in violation of the BIPA. Upon entering the 1099-Misc, ProSeries wants me to fill out a Sch. C unless I check off one of the boxes under "For Other Income:". I'm checking off the box that says "Other income" in that section and it no longer asks me for a Sch. C. I want to know if that is the correct thing to do.
