Question

Client moved from IL in 2023 to Alabama in 1-1-2024 and was a full year resident. When inputting his 1099r's on Federal return Alabama is also taxing him, Any one out there to help

I have a client that moved from IL in 2023 to Alabama residing all of 2024 starting in 1-1-24, When I entered his 1099r's on the Federal return, and went to fill out the Alabama full resident, I see that the same amount is listed on state of Alabama thus causing a large amount of money owed. Checked all worksheets that I did to show full resident of Alabama in 2024 don't think he should owe anything to state of Alabama.  Help Please

Does Alabama exclude whatever type of income is being reported on the 1099R?
