Can chickens be claimed even though the person does not have a farm?

More info - claimed as dependent? Claimed as inventory? Asset for laying the eggs? I'm assuming you mean as a business expense? Are they selling the eggs?

Claimed for what purpose?  I have 2 chickens that I claim as mine, they don't go on the tax return though.

On a separate note, my dogs have discovered a skunk is living under the shed in the backyard, the score is dogs 0 skunk 2.    FML

Oh no!  Cheryl says you can try to soak the dogs in tomato juice and let it sit for 20 minutes (which may only end up being slightly better than nothing.)

Rick... I've heard of that treatment too.  Fortunately, we don't have skunks around here so none of my dogs have ever tangled with 'em.  Or with porcupines either altho we do have them.  I hear the dogs are seldom the winner in battles with either of them.

You don't need a farm, you just need a backyard.  And the neighbors are going to report you to IRS if you're not paying tax on what you make selling eggs.

Do the chickens have a Social Security number or ITIN?

Did they live with the hen or the rooster more than half of the year?

These kinds of questions are really tough to answer when someone doesn't provide any details.

For full disclosure purposes, the answers provided here are only as good as the details provided in the question.

Are the chickens trained to bring you your Fireball?

They would need to be trained to do that.  Potential education credits?

Chickens used for eggs. Chicken or Eggs are not for sale. For family use only.

Thank you for your help, very much appreciated!

Not selling chickens. Not selling eggs.  Family use only.

There is nothing to report on a tax return.
