cannot open 2019 saved file

just installed 2019 software again on a new laptop and cannot open a saved 1040 customer file from 2018

You wouldnt be able to open a 2018 file using 2019 software.  You should be able to Transfer the 2018 file into 2019 though using the Transfer option.
