can you deduct out of pocket expenses from non profit on your personal return

My client operates an animal rescue and properly filed the 990 postcard.  She has huge vet bills that were paid out of pocket.  Can she deduct on her personal return?

Thank you

Operating expenses are paid out of the nonprofits income, and the operator cannot deduct nonprofit expenses. If your client volunteers for the nonprofit it could be a charitable donation

Income was maybe 1,200 and she has vet bills alone of 60k plus food.  She works alone. Asked for volunteers but they don't show up.  She has gone into debt to help these creatures that no one else will take care of.

In the future, she could donate money to the organization and have it pay the bills.

The more I know the more I don’t know.
