can I claim a 26 year old as dependent if he has autisum/ add

hello I have had a stroke and can not figure out what to do for the first time encountering a couple with a 26 year old living with parents disabled with autism has no job and they support him. Do i take the disability EIC, or other EIC, He is claimed as a dependent on PA 40. 

any instructional help would be greatly appreciated

If he meets the requirements to be claimed a s a dependent they can claim him. The 1040 instructions have  a flow chart. I'm working on a return now where the parents claim their 36 year old autistic disabled son who lives with them as a dependent. They happen to get -0- federal or state tax benefit because they are high income.

EIC might be available depending on parents' income and all the other rules for EIC.

 

The more I know the more I don’t know.
