Bank account information needs to be included even if no refund is expected
We are receiving IRS notices for clients who are entitled to unexpected refunds, mostly from automated adjustments due to clients providing incorrect estimated tax payment data. Since our original return did not report a refund, there was no bank account information transmitted even though we entered it into the system. Now the IRS is requesting the account information to send the adjusted refund and the only way to provide that information is for the client to set up their IRS online account. The system should be revised to transmit the latest bank account information every year even if no refund is anticipated.
