I don't use it and never would.  I would highly recommend that you and your clients don't waste your money on the fees.

I also don't use it, but ...

I haven't checked if this is the case with ProSeries, but I've read that the Audit Protection through TurboTax was changed and is mostly useless now.  If Intuit changed TurboTax to the mostly useless version, I wouldn't be surprised if they also changed the one through ProSeries to the mostly useless version.

With that being said, IF you are interested in buying it, you may be able to get the 'good' version directly through the provider.

The firm I started off with started selling "audit insurance" when I was with them over 35 years ago.  They included the product information in with the letter that was mailed out to all clients.  I ran the local office for the firm at that time and I talked everybody out of it except for one client that insisted on it.  I didn't like it then and I really don't like it now if Intuit has their fingers in it.

I don’t use it either… My engagement letter clearly refers to audits as additional billable services outside the scope of the return preparation.

in 30+ years, I can’t think of an instance where I’d have benefited from the protection. Annually, clients send letters from taxing authorities that are easily dealt with…. Some I charge for… most I don’t…

And yes, I have an E&O policy if/when I screw up.

If at first you don’t succeed…..find a workaround
