Alert for Part-Year MD Residency

Multiple clients moved in or out of MD. Did part-year apportionment on Fed worksheet. 2nd state transferred properly to that state return. MD's info did not transfer to a state subtraction of Income Earned While a Nonresident, therefore duplicating income..

Were you able to resolve this?

I did 11 part-year MD returns. 9 had no transfer of onresident income to the MD return, 2 did. There doesn't seem to be any logic to this as the input was the same for all 11. To answer your question - no, this was not resolved.

I haven’t done MD returns this year, but some states are set up that if you drill down on the w2 income lines you’ll find some worksheets that allow you to eliminate or adjust duplicate income. in NJ you have to drill down twice to find the worksheet… they hide it really well.

If at first you don’t succeed…..find a workaround
