Adult disabled Son/Assistant Living

Client's disabled son is in assistant living.  Disabled son's entire disability SSI check pays a portion of the bill.  The son is there for medical reason and the mother can no longer take care of him.  As a dependent can any portion of the disability SSI check be claimed as medical expenses?

    I don't think so. It's the son's money, not the parent's.
