2025 Super 401k Catch Up deferral for age 60-63

The solo 401k catch up deferral is not calculating properly in the 2025 ProSeries.  According to SECURE 2.0, the "super catch-up" applies to taxpayers age band 60-63 starting in 2025.  The super limit is $11,250.

We pay a large sum of money for the tax program every year - a 6% increase in cost over last year - you would think that they could get these things right.  Its already January 15th.

The developers of ProSeries RARELY program the software to Tax Law.

They program it based on final versions of IRS Publications and Instructions.  The final 2025 version of Publication 560 has not been released, which is likely why Intuit has not updated its software.

Yes, it sucks.  One of the MANY hazards of using Intuit software.

And it is only January 16.

I'm surprised by whatever is working correctly now.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

i @LAHCPA1 Thanks for the patience and waiting for the information on this. We have heard back about this and publication 560 for 2025 is not released. The program is coded to the current IRS instructions. When the new publication is released then the program will be updated to reflect the change.

And that is why ProSeries is inferior software compared to its competitors.

In my opinion, it is horrifying that a tax software program is based strictly on non-reliable Publications and Instructions, rather than the actual LAW, regulations, and other official guidance.
