2025 Maine Attachment for Credit????
Getting an error message on ALL 2025 Maine individual income tax returns Form 1040-ME.
Error states returns that have a credit on the "other tax credit worksheet" requires an additional worksheet to be attached etc etc ......below is a list of worksheets that need to be attached.
There's no list of worksheets below message that need to be attached.
Called tech support for 1.5 hours. Handed off to four different "support professionals" that could not be understood. Each one had me repeat my name, account number and email address. The last rep before I said goodbye and hung up and I had to teach Maine income tax form requirements read the forms and offered up no solution. I showed her how clients 2024 never requested this attachment.
She was confused and disoriented. I mentioned it was a definite flaw in the software and she kept informing me I needed to attach a worksheet but could not determine which attachment was needed and informed me to goto Maine Revenue Services website. I did and their was nothing about these attachment requirements.
I called Maine Revenue Services and emailed a rep the Maine return(s) and she said the returns were fine and did not require any attachments. She claimed if I did attach any files it would delay processing 4 to 5 weeks.
Has anyone seen this error?
I spend about 10k per year on Proseries software between the base fee and "pay per return" fees and believe it is time to start preparing returns by hand and filing paper returns. New York won't let me do this. Proseries used to be a decent program. Is this their way of putting preparers out of business so they can go to a TurboTax brick and mortar store they just rolled out this year???
