Will Calif. accept rejected return after they update master file for recent EFIN from the IRS?

Once rejected, it is rejected. You would have to resubmit to get it accepted. If there is still a problem, call the FTB Practitioner hotline. https://www.ftb.ca.gov/tax-pros/index.html

Not sure what you mean "what happens when you try?"  My question may not have been clear.   I am wondering if a rejected return that was rejected because it did not recognize a recently approved EFIN would then get approved automatically once the FTB refreshes or updates their EFIN Master File?  Or do I need to resubmit the state return?  If so how long should I wait to refile the state return?
