Question

Surviving spouse filed a tax return with deceased spouse as the tax payer. Refund hasn't been received yet. Tax payer has contacted IRS but haven't been helpful. Should the SS file an amended tax return?

    You aren't going to accomplish anything filing an amended return.  They just need to be patient.
