Can I attach a 1099 to the tax return in order to avoid entering 100's of transactions?

You can but you probably don't have to.

IRS only wants the details for noncovered transactions.

Enter totals for ST covered, ST noncovered, LT covered, and LT noncovered.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

Absolutely what sjrcpa said. I used to attach 1099s, but stopped years ago.
